God is moving in

YWAM began in Cameroon around 1984 with a Zimbabwean man called Salu Daka Ndebele. He was very active in trainings and connected with the local churches rapidly. He started to grow local leaders but sadly he passed away suddenly in 1992. Other leaders like Joe Portale and David Hamilton stepped in to strengthen the hands of these local leaders, to empower them and to challenge them to do great things with God in their country.

However, they didn't succeed to work hands in hands. A terrible leadership conflict arose and undermined the development of the ministry on the field. After more than 30 years of tension and bad relationships in the mission and a poor reputation before the local Church, YWAM Cameroon is now experiencing a revival.

Since 2019, a new team of leaders is coordinating the national leadership team on the field. Their vision is to realign YWAM Cameroon with our YWAM legacy words, and to reconnect with YWAM global and to the body of Christ locally as well. They intend to release fresh visions from God for Cameroon and to champion young leaders. In this regard, they have just released two new bases, YWAM Buea and YWAM Shalom.

A dynamic of 6 base leaders is now operating. They work hands in hands, meet and pray on a regular basis, attend YWAM international gatherings, and reconnecting the mission with the local church leaders. After the Arusha's tragedy, as YWAM Cameroon we stood up like one body to stand with the families of the deceased, and to accompany our sisters to their final destination. It was a powerful testimony of unity and love in Christ before the local church. We want to thank the brothers and sisters from all over the world who stood with us during that moment. We are reaping the fruits of this international compassion with many conversions to Christ in the families of our late sisters.

Many ministries and schools are flourishing in Cameroon at the moment: the DTS, the SBS, Foundations in Education, Foundations in Counseling Ministry, the Primary Heath Care School, English for Mission, Family Ministry School, Street Children ministry, Evangelism, and many Extension studies that target the professionals from the seven spheres.

We are opened to welcome teams from everywhere to come along with us and to reach the unreached. They are still 17 unreached people groups in Cameroon. Recently we were visited by leaders like Phil Leage (international director of Extension studies centre) and Lisa Orvis (College of Education). We bless God for what he is doing in our country, and we extend an invitation to all to come and be part of this season of repentance, realignment and restoration. You can also join us in prayers in this season of impactation and transformation.

Welcome to Cameroon, Africa in miniature.
